A novel idea I had as a child.
A young, young child.

The idea being that a group of friends stumble on some ancient source of magic. One goes to interact with it but it begins to charge up. Someone saves him but is killed by the charge, distributing the charge to all the friends except he who originally approached.

The friends each gain some level of superpowers except el normy, and as they die for various reasons; their power shard enters him in a quest to make some ancient evil whole again.

MS: I should make it a Short story. No more than 5000 words, though hopefully just a flash fiction.
